ILSFA is a state-sponsored program designed to bring solar energy to households, non-profits, and public facilities in Illinois. The program ensures safe and transparent business practices by working with vetted solar companies. Eligible households can take advantage of affordable solar installations, saving money while helping Illinois meet its renewable energy goals.
As a participant, you’ll work with an approved solar company that handles your solar panel installation. For most homeowners and small multi-family properties, there are no upfront costs. Larger properties may have a small upfront cost but savings are GUARANTEED with the ILSFA program.
Your monthly electricity bill will decrease as you produce RECs with your new solar system. By producing electricity your system produces RECs which are what the state uses to measure it's energy impact. While participants don't retain ownership of the RECs, they still benefit financially from the reduced energy costs.
Before you sign any contracts you'll receive a standard disclosure form detailing the costs and savings, ensuring complete transparency. Note that with program requirements you will always see more savings than costs for the energy your system generates with the ILSFA program.
